Psychotherapists
Kamala L. Uzzell, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS

Dr. Uzzell is a licensed professional counselor, professor, and life coach who earned a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education from North Carolina State University, a Master of Arts degree in Agency Counseling from Campbell University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Uzzell's clinical experience includes private practice, the criminal justice system, college and university settings, and outpatient mental health facilities. She has extensive experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders and stress management, as well as, workforce and career-related issues. She also has expertise in training and teaching techniques which foster empowerment and motivation. Dr. Uzzell has complemented her clinical and professional work with research on factors relevant to the healthy psychosocial development of Black males and the psychosocial wellness and behavior of athletes and has presented this scholarly research at national and regional conferences. Additionally, Dr. Uzzell is an adjunct professor of Counseling at Campbell University and she has previously been an adjunct professor at NC State University and Mount Olive College. She is a member of the North Carolina and American Counseling Associations, the American College Personnel Association, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
Donna C. Kornegay, Ph.D., LPC, NCC
Dr. Kornegay is a consulting psychotherapist with SOLAY and has earned degrees from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, North Carolina Central University, and North Carolina State University. She is a national board certified, licensed professional counselor. In addition to her work with SOLAY, Dr. Kornegay is the Director of Wellness for the School of Law at North Carolina Central University and she is part-time faculty with Walden University.
Katrina Billingsley, M.A.

Katrina Y. Billingsley is currently completing coursework for her Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education at NC State University. She is a graduate of NC Central University where she received a Master of Arts in Career Counseling. For her undergraduate degree, she attended UNC Chapel Hill where she earned a degree in Political Science.
She has over 10 years of experience working in higher education recruiting traditional and non-traditional students and serving as program manager. She is certified in True Colors®, a simple model of personality identification for people of all ages that improves communication through recognition of a person's true character and is a valuable team-building resource. Her experience includes career issues, such as adjustment and transition, for the college-aged and adult populations. In 10 years of working with new students, Ms. Billingsley has developed an expertise with helping to alleviate the stress of change and bringing the focus back to what is immediate--college dorm life, finding a major, new found independence and responsibility, attending class, and overall college success. Ms. Billingsley is certified in conflict resolution/mediation through the Dispute Settlement Center of Durham NC. Conflict resolution is an avenue used to resolve conflicts rationally and effectively. Through conflict resolution, individuals walk away with an increased understanding of the situation and resolution is a win-win. Additionally, Ms. Billingsley has passed NC state requirements for certification as a school counselor, K-12 She also specializes in working with mid-career professionals who seek change in career either by returning to school or finding a new career path including but not limited to new family responsibilities.

Eric Mayhew, M.S., LPC

Eric Mayhew is a licensed professional counselor as designated by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. Mr. Mayhew earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sonoma State University in California. He has over a decade of clinical experience providing mental health services to a wide variety of client populations including adolescents and adults diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance-related issues, adjustment problems, relationship issues, and personality disorders. Mr. Mayhew has a background utilizing individual, group, couples, community, and family modalities. He is a professional member of the American Counseling Association and Counselors for Social Justice.
The common thread in Mr. Mayhew's approach to counseling is the development of the therapeutic relationship, which involves person-centered treatment strategies such as empathy, active listening, validation, experiential processing, and collaborative treatment planning. He integrates techniques drawn from treatment approaches such as cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, existential, and psychodynamic. Furthermore, Mr. Mayhew often incorporates mindfulness skills and values work to promote acceptance and personal growth.
Maya D. Mitchell, M.A., LPCA, NCC

Maya Mitchell is a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor’s Associate as designated by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.
Ms. Mitchell earned a Masters of Arts in Education and Human Development, Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at George Washington she endured intense clinical experience in which she provided individual and family counseling to children, teens, and adults in the area of grief and loss counseling. Ms. Mitchell has also served community members of the metro Washington, DC area, and students of The George Washington University in the areas of career counseling, stress management, relationship conflict/couples counseling, and general problems in living. In addition to these services, she has provided crisis counseling to families undergoing the identification of their deceased loved ones through the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Ms. Mitchell’s function as a therapist should not be to act as a ringleader, but rather a facilitator of change and/or survival that works with her clients. She believes it is her role to help the client gain understanding through work, guidance, and client self-discovery. As each client is the “expert” of their life, they are unique, thus respond to different theories and techniques in different ways.
Terri Onstad, M.Ed., LPC

Terri Onstad is a licensed professional counselor who received her Masters of Education in Human Development Counseling - community Counseling from Vanderbilt University, and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from Emory University. She has worked as a staff therapist at Vanderbilt Psychological and Counseling Center, and completed a practicum at Gilead Center in Nashville, TN.
Ms. Onstad's style is consistently grounded in client centered therapy and has experience working with clients dealing with diverse issues such as trauma, self injury, personality disorders, career issues, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQI issues. She is a believer in the relational cultural model of therapy and feels that even one healing relationship can begin to undo a great deal of damage from the past. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Massage Therapists
Natasha Harvey, LMBT #4680
Natasha Harvey is a Nationally Certified, NC Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist. Ms. Harvey received her BS in Biology from North Carolina A&T. In 2004, she graduated with honors from Medical Arts Massage School and has been practicing in medical massage offices and spa settings for over 6 years. Her techniques and specialties include swedish, deep tissue, and pregnancy massage, as well as hot stone therapy. Ms. Harvey is a certified reflexologist.
Administrative Professionals
Kendra Edwards, MS
Ms. Edwards, a graduate of North Carolina Central University, serves as the Office Manager for SOLAY. She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Chemistry and Human Sciences as well as a Master of Science degree with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics. Ms. Edwards is a nutritionist and pharmacy technician whose primary focus is community health with an emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyles.
Nicoya Langley
Ms. Langley is the Executive Assistant to Dr. Kamala Uzzell. She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While at UNC, Ms. Langley served as a tutor for middle school students in the AVID program, she was a volunteer with the Communiversity program and was the President of the Opeyo! Dance Company. Additionally, Ms. Langley has been a volunteer at Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and most recently was an intern with LePage Associates.
Yuxin Liu
Ms. Liu, a Business Operations Assistant with SOLAY, is a junior Business Administration and Economics major in the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her sophomore year, Ms. Liu was inducted into the prestigious Leadership Institute and completed business administration and financial services internships in both North Carolina and New York. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.
Grant Reid
Mr. Reid, a Mental Health Assistant with SOLAY, is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. At UNC, Grant was a National Merit Scholar, a member of UNC's Honors program and Honor Court, and a Disc Jockey for the student operated radio station, WXYC. During his senior year, Grant designed and implemented a research study investigating the relationship between social media use and paranoid thought patterns in undergraduate students.
